The Truth About The Border Crisis
We’ve entered remarkable political times, my friends.
So remarkable, in fact, that President Biden is now blaming President Trump and MAGA Republicans for the border crisis. Earlier this week, he said, “All indications are this bill won’t even move forward to the Senate floor. Why? A simple reason: Donald Trump. Because Donald Trump thinks it’s bad for him politically.”
For those of us who have been following this issue for decades now, we are well aware that this is a major deviation from reality.
Like him or hate him, President Trump took bold, decisive action to secure our border.
In fact, he fought intense opposition at every single step in the process of securing our nation’s borders.
It’s time for a bit of a reality check on the issue of border security.
Illegal immigration and overall border security has been a problem for decades. However, the problem has never been worse than it is today.
President Reagan attempted to address this problem in 1986 by negotiating the Immigration Reform and Control Act with the Democrat-controlled House. Approximately 3 million people were granted amnesty in return for promises to secure the border in the future.
However, the border was never really secured. And illegal immigration remained an unsolved problem.
The truth is, both parties are to blame and neither has the political will to fix it.
One party wants immigrants willing to do cheap labor – necessary work they claim the American people won’t do. (What a reprehensible way to look at other people created in the very image of Almighty God, don’t you say?)
And the other party wants votes that come from the identity politics of border policy.
Every election year, Republican candidates for the House, the Senate, or President talk about illegal immigration on the campaign trail. Unfortunately, the only time most of them seem interested in even discussing it is when they are soliciting votes or cash.
Oh, but when they get the chance to discuss it on the campaign trail, they lambast other politicians for ignoring the problem.
They get the base fired up, talking about the problems that come from illegal immigration.
After all, how does a nation building a welfare state also have open borders and survive fiscally?
How much of a burden can – and should – taxpayers carry? It has a cost, you know? Just ask Democrat mayors across the country having to come to grips with this reality.
What about the percentage of illegal aliens who commit violent crimes? Sure, the vast, vast majority of illegal aliens do not commit violent crimes. But some do.
It’s terrible when anyone commits a violent crime. It’s much worse when the perpetrator could have been prevented from being here altogether.
How many people have had their lives ruined because of dangerous drugs that have been smuggled across the border? Or worse yet, what about the evils of human trafficking?
How many terrorists have crossed our porous border? How many sleeper cells are here now? And what cost will Americans pay for that?
Politicians can talk a good game, but the truth is, they never did anything about it.
At least not until Donald Trump came along.
Now, I know I lose some readers with that statement.
However, I implore you to think logically and to remain free of emotion while analyzing this important issue. That’s a pretty good rule-of-thumb to follow at all times when choosing which politicians to support, by the way.
You can still dislike Trump while simultaneously accepting the truth that Trump secured our border more than anyone else.
His insistence on building the wall and commitment to securing the border is what actually forced Republicans in Congress to finally follow-through with their campaign promises.
And make no mistake: many of them deeply resent him for holding their feet to the proverbial fire.
My friends, we have won the argument on illegal immigration and border security.
But the professional deceivers in DC aren’t going to roll over and quit that easily.
That’s why the Senate created a garbage bill that supposedly addressed the problems of illegal immigration, but didn’t.
In fact, 83% of the funding requested in the bill had absolutely nothing to do with American border security. It had nothing to do with America’s borders at all.
Instead, over half of the funds would have been used for Ukraine with billions more set aside for Gaza, Israel, and the Red Sea conflicts – all wars which started on Biden’s watch I might add.
Trump made great strides in securing our border, but Biden’s executive actions erased all of that progress.
The truth is, if Biden simply reinstated the Trump-era orders on border security, the vast majority of this issue would be solved.
Beyond that, America deserves a clean immigration bill after the 2024 Election.
