How Capitalism Saved Plymouth: A Thanksgiving Truth Story
My friends, when the Pilgrims first established the Plymouth colony, they struggled to survive.
In fact, about half of them died the first winter.
They managed to learn how to survive after the Native Americans taught them to improve their hunting, fishing and farming skills.
But life was still very difficult.
Then, in the Spring of 1623, Governor William Bradford properly identified the cause of the Pilgrim’s suffering.
Socialism.
Bradford realized it was dangerous to give all colonists an equal share of what was produced.
As he explained in his journal, it incentivized laziness.
So he decided each family should have its own property and the right to own what they produced.
Capitalism.
The result?
An incredible harvest, overflowing abundance, and the Second Thanksgiving.
