America: Constitutional Republic vs. Direct Democracy

My friends, I recently stumbled upon a claim made by a Leftist suggesting Republicans insist America is a republic, not a democracy, simply because "democracy" sounds too much like "Democrat."

Now, I can't speak for everyone, but I couldn't care less about that.

My real concern is what people interpret when America is called a democracy.

Why?

Because that can imply a direct democracy, which our Founders wisely avoided.

They understood the dangers of mob rule.

My objection isn't to the word "democracy” itself, but rather to the omission of the words "representative" or, more importantly, “constitutional.”

That is the critical term because the Constitution makes clear that our rights aren't up for a vote.

This is why we are indeed blessed beyond measure to call this constitutional republic our home.
